Memory Verse

One of our objectives for the school year is to memorize scripture verses that relate to the passages we are studying in our Bible lessons.  Last week we were reviewing Genesis 1 and this week we've moved on to Genesis 3.  Our kids are very familiar with these stories - Abby (almost 2 years old) needs to go through our toddler Bible curriculum so that she understands that Genesis 3 does NOT teach us that we shouldn't eat snakes.  :)

For our memory verse we learned Romans 3:23 and had some good discussions about sin, its effects, and how God demonstrated His love to us in the midst of it.

And so, without further ado, here is a video of our very first official homeschool class reciting this week's memory verse.  Enjoy!

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  -Romans 3:23

P.S.  The kids helped to make up the hand motions.

Little Four is Here!

On Tuesday, July 24 at 1:42pm we were excited to welcome into the world the latest addition to the Chew Crew...

Jeremiah Samuel
6 lb. 7oz., 18 in.

He is by far the most popular person in our household as all three older kids want to hold him, play with him, talk to him, and know his whereabouts at all times.

Following are a few photos of the kids' first time meeting Jeremiah.  Enjoy!

Joshua is very excited to have a little brother!

Hannah, our house mom, has a natural way with babies.  I love to watch her talk with Jeremiah and to see how he calms right down when she's with him.

 Abby LOVES her little brother!
She constantly asks where "Jer-miah" is and if she can hold him.

Jeremiah's birth was a bit different than the other three.  He caught us off-guard with no signs of pre-labor.  In fact, I was so uncertain of actually being in labor that I considered sending the kids to summer camp and Claude to work.  It's a good thing Claude knows what to look for and didn't believe me when I said, "I'm not sure that this is really it."  :)
