No Fear?

Hannah is a child who seems to have no fear, except for animals that get within her personal space. But who wouldn't be afraid of a small dog who is really half your size? This afternoon she climbed up a huge ladder on the big kids' playground equipment. Mom made it just in time to spot her while she scaled up nearly six feet. Pretty impressive for a 26 lb, less than 3 feet tall little girl.

But today she met her match. Yes, even the fearless Hannah is wary of some things. She was enjoying a warm bath, complete with bubbles, when Mom recognized some signs that using the potty was imminent. She asked Hannah if she wanted to use the potty. No response. She asked again and this time took initiative. But alas, Mom was too late. Hannah had already done a pretty substantial poop in the bathtub. As she was being lifted out, Hannah looked down, saw the poop, clung to Mom and started whimpering. She was, in fact, afraid.

Joshua on the other hand was fascinated. He came running in from the living room, peered over the edge of the tub and said in a most excited voice, "Hannah's poo poo!" Ah, the things that delight a nearly three year old boy. :)

So, Hannah might be climbing Mt. Everest some day (or just hanging upside down from the living room railing) but it seems likely that she will not be pooping in the bathtub again any time soon.
